Speed Limit 35

Friday is my 35th birthday. Which means I'm half way to 70. And it means my age is now reflective of many more speed limit signs. And I'm now officially closer to 40 than 30.

But instead of wallowing, I think I will choose to be more reflective as I await the inevitable (but always welcomed) Facebook Wall deluge of well-wishes. I've accomplished quite a bit in my almost 35 years on the planet. Many personal triumphs and points of pride, equal parts of love, hard work, and perseverance. A relative few blemishes, and a sizable to-do list to go.

I did get to thinking how my tastes and likes have changed with the times. Here's a small sampling of my evolution from 5 (1981) to 35 (2011):

FAVORITE MOVIE IN THEATERS:
Age 5: The Great Muppet Caper
Age 15: Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Age 25: Oceans 11
Age 35: The Hangover II (going out on a limb, but appears to be a safe bet)

TECHNOLOGY TO COMMUNICATE
Age 5: Pea Green Kitchen Telephone
Age 15: Mastering QWERTY in Keyboarding class
Age 25: Nokia Cell Phone
Age 35: iPhone 3G

FAVORITE RESTAURANT
Age 5: Friendly's
Age 15: The Ground Round
Age 25: El Azteca
Age 35: The Olde Blind Dog

WHERE TO FIND ME AFTER 11 PM
Age 5: Asleep in Bed
Age 15: Dishwashing and/or hanging out with friends who could drive
Age 25: Buckhead (Fado, Have a Nice Day Cafe, Buckhead Saloon, Mako's)
Age 35: Asleep in Bed

I hope I can make this only the first 1/3 of my life, so I can get past the century mark!
