Recommendations & Remembering LOST

First off, another batch of Twitter recommendations:

- Homer J. Simpson @HomerJSimpson / 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield, USA
- Touring Plans @TouringPlans / Insider view of everything Walt Disney World (mentioned in this space way back in 2010)
- David Hale @Philled_In / Phila. Phillies blogger for the Wilmington News, and former UGA blogger for the Macon Herald
- Richard Deitsch @richarddeitsch / CNNSI Media Columnist who always brings to light great links in Sports and other world affairs
- Josh and Chuck @SYSKPodcast / Hosts of the popular Stuff You Should Know Podcast (and former UGA students!)

Also, I realized that today (May 23) is the one year anniversary since the series finale of LOST. While we were a year late to the party with this show, we quickly were hooked just in time for the premiere of the second season. Which, for my money, remains my favorite 4 minute sequence of the entire series:

The show itself, while simple in set up (plane crash survivors living on a mysterious island), had a complexity that was perfect for this generation of Internet-based multi-taskers. The writing and character development were top notch, and the decision to assign an end date to the show 3 years in advance was brillant.

Yes, not every question we asked was answered, but that was the whole point. What fun would it be to know everything and not be the answer you wanted.

A few personal highlights:

FAVORITE MAIN CHARACTER (OCEANIC 815): Hurley
FAVORITE MAIN CHARACTER (NOT ON OCEANIC 815): Benjamin Linus
FAVORITE BIT CHARACTER: Dr. Marvin Candle/Mark Wickkman/Pierre Chang

FAVORITE EPISODE: "Orientation" (Season 3 Finale a close second)

FAVORITE COUPLE: Juliet and Sawyer
SADDEST DEATH: Charlie (Not Penny's Boat :( )
BIGGEST SURPRISE DEATH: Michael shooting Libby

BEST REVENGE ATTACK: Hurley leading the van attack on The Others
BEST PROP: Sawyer's UGA Sweatshirt circa 1977

TIME (IN MINUTES) BEFORE FIGURING OUT THE FLASHFORWARD TWIST: 48
QUOTE IN THE FINALE WHERE I ALMOST LOST IT: Juliet to Sawyer: "It Worked."

I think it will be sometime before another show catches our imagination like LOST did. We have to go baaaaaaaccccccckkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!
