Small Steps

"I eat Too Much, drink Too Much, want Too Much, Too Much..."  - DMB

I've always loved food.  And as the song lyric says so above, too much of it.  I don't think I am severly overweight, but it's been a lifelong struggle for me.  It will only get harder in the future to do something about it, and I don't want to handicap my future with unneeded medication and surgeries.

Since in my mind "Diet" is a 4-letter word, I will not partake in one.  Instead, I am now initiating a few small steps to help turn the battleship of poor nutrition.  Some are common sense, some are based on research.  Those first steps include:

- No food after 8 PM (unless an emergency / late night of work)
- No soda
- Attempt to incorporate protein in each and every meal
- Consistent small snacking (healthy) throughout the day
- A new gym membership (of which my employer will reimburse up to $300 in dues per year)
- Water, Water, Water

Theses will hopefully provide the springboard to others.  I don't have a real goal at this time, other than the obvious drop in weight, improvement in stamina and body shape.  I'm in no rush, it's going to take a while.  But this will be hard.  Bring it on...

Congrats on your decisions!

As far as late night snacking goes, sometimes, you need to munch and almonds have been my savior. Totally healthy, good for you and low in calories.

Good luck and keep us posted.
